Neurofeedback for ADHD therapy
Studies of Neurofeedback concerning adults
There are many studies demonstrating that Neurofeedback training sustainably improves behavior and attention problems of children with ADHD. In 2012, the University of Tübingen, Germany, examined whether the training achieves comparable results in adults who suffer from ADHD, since it is known today that patients commonly take the problem into adulthood. Approximately 5% of all adults have ADHD, but only 11% of the patients actually receive treatment.
24 adults between 18 and 60 years old participated in the study at the University of Tübingen, Germany. After a total of 30 session, the attention and impulsivity significantly improved and hyperactivity decreased slightly. The behavior rating improved by approximately 25% from before treatment began. Neurofeedback was proven for the first time to be beneficial for adult ADHD patients, as well.
